Thomas Albert Fox (aka Terry Edwards), a King Edward VI grammar school scholarship boy, left school at sixteen to serve an electronics apprenticeship in the Royal Air Force. From age 18 years he completed a twelve-year engagement, traveling to and serving in many parts of Britain, including the Outer Hebrides, and abroad in the Near and Middle East. He worked on tactical air navigation systems, commutated antenna direction finding, airfield control radar and ground to air communication. Of the twelve years he served two 2-year tours as a Senior Technician Instructor at the then Royal Air Force Radio School at Locking, near Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset.
